A MIPI DSI display to HDMI adapter

Today’s mobile phone screens are of very high quality and low price (after all, backed by the popularity of smartphones, they are very cheap to buy as repair parts). Compared to most desktop monitors, they have unrivaled resolution, pixel density, viewing angle, color reproduction and even refresh rate.

稚晖 (peng-zhihui) on GitHub presents an HDMI to MIPI module which can be used to drive various mobile phone screens as displays.

Toshiba has a TC358870XBG chip that supports 2x4lane screen driver and HDMI input source, which is a popular solution in AR glasses. The chip is very powerful, but the disadvantage is that the information is extremely scarce. I spent a long time to get the original datasheet and related documents, and shared them in the warehouse.

There is another domestic Longxun solution LT6911. Compared with the above solutions, Longxun’s performance is slightly weaker, but the chip has a built-in 51-core MCU, so it can be programmed directly on the chip (Toshiba requires an additional microcontroller to configure the chip using I2C).

The advantage of this solution is that the cost is relatively low and the chip peripheral circuit is simpler. The disadvantage is that the data is less than Toshiba’s…
