Uros Popovic’s Linux board doesn’t have a particular name. It’s simply called a Linux board because that’s its main purpose: to run the full mainline Linux kernel.
Specifications:
Allwinner F1C100s SoC.
4 layer PCB (signal-GND-power-signal).
USB 2.0, full-speed connectivity for flashing.
2 MB onboard SPI NOR flash. Was supposed to be 16, but someone made a mistake, either me or the fabricator.
Designed using EasyEDA, fabricated by JLCPCB.
As I wrote in the text on running Linux on $5 hardware, my inspiration for the first embedded Linux system was the business card that runs Linux. The fact that it’s a business card signaled to me it would be as simple as possible in its design and it would be the right design to study.
There aren’t that many components in the inspirational design, and that seems right. After all, we have demonstrated it’s possible to boot and run Linux with just on-board flash plus an Allwinner SoC! Let’s break down the problem of designing the schematic and center it around the F1C100s SoC.
