Creating file bundles for Adafruit Playground Notes #CircuitPython
CookieCutter Playground Bundle is a GitHub Actions workflow demo for creating CircuitPython project bundles to use with “Download Project Bundle” buttons in Adafruit Playground guides.
The Adafruit Learning System includes a tool called BundleFly to help Learn guide authors share example code with Learn guide readers. As of June 2024, BundleFly is not currently available for Adafruit Playground authors. For various reasons, it might not be practical to add BundleFly to the Playground editor in the same way as the Learning System editor.
But, by using a GitHub Actions workflow, Playground guide authors can make their own project bundle zip files in the style of BundleFly.
By adding a copy of the GitHub Action defined in this template to the GitHub repository for your own project, you can generate a project bundle zip file as an asset file for a tagged release. Once you have the zip file’s GitHub link, you can make a big blue “Download Project Bundle” using the Adafruit Playground editor. For Playground guide readers, the end result will look and feel similar to an Adafruit Learn guide project bundle button.

Stop breadboarding and soldering – start making immediately! Adafruit’s Circuit Playground is jam-packed with LEDs, sensors, buttons, alligator clip pads and more. Build projects with Circuit Playground in a few minutes with the drag-and-drop MakeCode programming site, learn computer science using the CS Discoveries class on code.org, jump into CircuitPython to learn Python and hardware together, TinyGO, or even use the Arduino IDE. Circuit Playground Express is the newest and best Circuit Playground board, with support for CircuitPython, MakeCode, and Arduino. It has a powerful processor, 10 NeoPixels, mini speaker, InfraRed receive and transmit, two buttons, a switch, 14 alligator clip pads, and lots of sensors: capacitive touch, IR proximity, temperature, light, motion and sound. A whole wide world of electronics and coding is waiting for you, and it fits in the palm of your hand.
