This is a two-day long workshop (Saturday & Sunday, 1-4 pm). Ticket price covers tuition of $300 and take-home lab kit fee of $65.
Building Custom MIDI Controllers
Learn to build MIDI and wireless (OSC) controllers in one weekend. We’ll go from A to Z, and you will finish with a working controller, useable for music, video, DJ/VJ, Ableton, robotics, etc. A take-away lab kit includes an Arduino board, dials, sensors, LEDs and more. After creating your first controller in class, take it with you to use in your own custom controller designs. No prior electronics or programming experience required (though some tech savviness and familiarity with any audio or video programs is helpful).
Topics covered include
– board setup
– electronics fundamentals
– sensors, LEDs, motors & more
– writing Arduino software
– MIDI & OSC communication
NOTE: You will need to bring a Mac or PC laptop with you. This is a necessary requirement, to connect to and program boards.
