Blade Runner Opening Recreated on a Vintage Yamaha DX7 #MusicMonday
Where were you when you saw Blade Runner for the first time? A dorm room? With your Gen X parents in the den? On a tablet huddled in your room? Or, say, tonight, if you haven’t seen the legendary film. The score for the film adds so much to the tone of the movie. Here’s the opening theme, recreated on a vintage Yamaha DX7, from Benjamin Dehli:
The Yamaha CS-80 and Yamaha DX7 are probably polar opposites in both operation and sound. The CS-80 is an analog subtractive synthesizer, whereas the DX7 is a digital synthesizer that uses frequency modulation (FM) synthesis. The only thing they really have in common is the Yamaha brand name.
