Alluvia – Underwater sculpture with LEDs #ArtTuesday
Jason deCaires Taylor specializes in underwater sculptures. His newest peice on the banks of the River Stour is made from recycled glass and incorporates environmental sensors and LEDs!
Made from recycled glass and marine stainless steel, the work incorporates environmental sensors and is lit from within at night. The work references the painting “Ophelia” by John Everett Millais. A character from Shakespeare’s Hamlet which some have suggested could have been inspired by events which took place on the stour.
This new work replaces a previous installation which was damaged during river dredging several years ago.
