Desk of Ladyada – Sample Sunday: cafe lights and TM1814s #DeskOfLadyada @adafruit

This week at the desk, we’re looking at some LED samples! We had a request to get some ‘cafe lights’ – and samples came in this week. These are weatherproof bulbs that have RGB or RGBW elements inside. The RGB ones are WS2811, so they’re super easy: you just need 5V power and logic and NeoPixel to do it.

The RGBW ones are TM1814 based, and this chip kinda sucks. However, we did get it working with some PIO and CircuitPython code. After struggling with the setup, we designed a little helper shifter/inverter that We’ll be able to suggest folks use to make interfacing less annoying.

And on The Great Search: looking for a Single NOT / inverting gate for 5V signal in a SC70-5 package.
