Really well made history of the Power Glove from the Gaming Historian from a few years back. The Power Glove evolved (or maybe devolved) through the Data Glove and NASA till it made its way to gaming. Interesting to see some of the original ideas for the glove are concepts folks are still working on like sign language translation and 3D tracking.
The Gaming Historian provides a comprehensive history on the Power Glove, the very first mass-marketed, gesture-based device. Learn how Mattel was able to take a $9000 virtual reality device and turn it into a Nintendo controller.
