Jack-o’-lantern of DOOM #RP2040 #raspberryPi #ElectronicHalloween
In the grand tradition of running Doom on anything and everything, this month it’s a Jack-o’-lantern…specifically a Jabberin’ Jack animated Halloween decoration:
This started out as a test whether the inexpensive short-throw projector inside Jack might be a reasonable stand-in for the now-very-expensive Gakken Worldeye. No, as it turns out, but some fun is had along the way…first replacing videos on Jack’s internal flash storage, then taking it further with an RP2040 Pico board driving visuals on the fly. The “pumpkin Pi” jokes just write themselves!
