Adafruit’s Top Ten Best Selling Products of 2024 #AdafruitTopTen

Another year in the can! Check out our best-selling, most beloved products that maker folks can’t get enough of.

10. Mini External USB Stereo Speaker

Add some crisp and compact audio to your project with this Mini External USB 2.0 Speaker. It’s USB-only and does not require or use a 3.5mm audio jack. You’ll get great audio, even with a device that doesn’t have a head phone jack. And since it is powered over USB, there’s no need to charge it by other means, merely plug it into your desired device’s USB port and listen to the audio flow. Compact and convenient to carry, it’s simple and practical. With 2 built-in speakers and no battery or adapter needed, this plug-and-play speaker is perfect if you need a quick and portable audio solution.

9. Adafruit CH334F Mini 4-Port USB Hub Breakout

Sometimes you’ve got something with USB host, like a embedded linux board, and you want to connect more than one thing. Or maybe you want to turn something like a keyboard into a multi-device USB peripheral. The Adafruit CH334F Mini 4-Port USB Hub Breakout will do that for you! it features a CH334F USB 2.1 hub chip which converts one high-speed port into four.

8. Adafruit USB Type C Breakout Board – Downstream Connection

Throw out all those Mini and Micro B USB cables you have in a plastic bin – the next generation of USB connectors is here with USB C! You will start to see these connectors pop up on all sorts of devices as the industry moves from micro B or lightening to the new standard. Well, at least until the next standard comes out

USB C features a symmetric/reversible connector, more data pins, and higher current output capability. But, for most developers, the pin usage you know and love from older USB will work just fine. This breakout gives you all the basics and a resistor configuration that mimics classic USB 2.0 for a downstream connection.

7. RJ-45 Ethernet Round Panel Mount Adapter Plug

If you need to add a panel-mount connection for Ethernet but don’t have the time or ability to cut a custom oval or square hole, this RJ-45 Ethernet Round Panel Mount Plug is the easiest and fastest way to panel-ify your existing Ethernet kit. It’s about 30mm in diameter, so you can drill a hole in your wood, plastic or metal with a common hole-saw or bit, no special shapes or filing required. Un-screw the plastic nut, insert the plug, and re-attach. Ta-da! Now, you have two RJ45s on either side for connecting any cable.

6. NeoPixel 5050 RGB LED with Integrated Driver Chip – 10 Pack

Make your own smart LED arrangement with the same integrated LED used in our NeoPixel strip and pixels. This tiny 5050 (5mm x 5mm) RGB LED is fairly easy to solder and is the most compact way to integrate multiple bright LEDs into a design. The driver chip is inside the LED and has ~18mA constant current drive, so the color will be very consistent even if the voltage varies, and no external choke resistors are required, making your design minimal. Power the whole thing with 5VDC, and you’re ready to rock.

5. Generic 64 Mbit Serial Pseudo SRAM – PSRAM – 3.3V 133 MHz

This PSRAM is a 64 Mbit (8 Megabyte) serial pseudo-SRAM device, organized in 8 M x 8 bits and in a compact SOIC-8 package. It is fabricated using high-performance and high-reliability CMOS technology, can operate at 3.3V, and supports up to 133 MHz clock rate. Note, however, that burst operations that cross page boundaries have a lower max input clock frequency at 84 MHz.

4. Raspberry Pi 5 – 8 GB RAM

The Raspberry Pi 5 is the newest Raspberry Pi computer, and the Pi Foundation knows you can always make a good thing better! And what could make the Pi 5 better than the 4? How about a faster processor, USB 3.0 ports, and an updated Gigabit Ethernet chip with PoE capability? Good guess – that’s exactly what they did!

The Raspberry Pi 5 is the latest product in the Raspberry Pi range, boasting 64-bit quad-core Arm Cortex-A76 processor running at 2.4GHz with built-in metal heatsink, USB 3 ports, dual-band 2.4GHz and 5GHz wireless LANfaster Gigabit Ethernet, and PoE capability via a separate PoE HAT.

This version comes with 8 GB of RAM, but there’s also a 4GB version.

3. DE-9 (DB-9) Female Socket Connector to Terminal Block Breakout

Make your own custom DE-9 cable or DE-9 interface easily using this DE-9 Socket to Terminal Block Breakout. You get a nice solid PCB with a DE-9 socket and two strips of terminal blocks that you can use with stranded or solid core wire to quickly assemble your own wiring jigs.

Perfect for when you need a non-standard wiring setup or interfacing to an older device with one of these connectors.

2. JST PH 2-Pin Cable – Female Connector 100mm

Red and black tinned wires with a 2-pin JST PH connector on the end. 4″ / 100mm long. Matches up nicely with our Lipoly chargers!

1. STEMMA QT / Qwiic JST SH 4-pin Cable – 100mm Long

This 4-wire cable is a little over 100mm / 4″ long and fitted with JST-SH female 4-pin connectors on both ends. Compared with the chunkier JST-PH these are 1mm pitch instead of 2mm, but still have a nice latching feel, while being easy to insert and remove.

This cable can be used with Qwiic boards, to easily connect sensors and drivers from one board to the other. The cables are made symmetrically so don’t worry about which side goes where! When used with Qwiic the colors are:

  • Red – 3.3VDC Power
  • Black – Ground
  • Blue – I2C SDA Data
  • Yellow – I2C SCL Clock
