The Mirror X Display page features a technique that mirrors a specified portion of the entire desktop display. It allows for keyboard, mice, and other USB inputs to work as normal with the application, but it does require configuring the Pi to use the older and no longer default X11 display setting. It’s perfect for playing PC classics like Doom.
The X Virtual Display page features a different method using xvfb and the python module pyvirtualdisplay to create a virtual X display instance to mirror to the matrix. This doesn’t support keyboard or mouse inputs, but if the app being mirrored has it’s own built-in support for USB game controllers those will work. It’s great for getting in some gaming with your favorite emulator.
