I happened upon the most LED blinged dresses I’ve ever seen on one catwalk thanks to Australia’s Women in Engineering, IEEE La Trobe Student Branch. So, if you are looking for inspiration for your next fashion, look no further. You’ll find LEDs running many different coding patterns, and you’ll also see a variety of placements, from underneath gowns as a matrix to edge trimming strips. There may even be some EL wire in the mix! I noticed some of my faves used different styles of LEDs, allowing for bold and subtle highlights at once. So, get your groove on and grab a pen to start sketching your own design. It’s time to celebrate women in tech, whether it be a pantsuit or mini-skirt. If you want to learn the basics of working with microcontrollers and Neopixels, check out the perfect fall project—an LED Hoodie. It’s got a textile potentiometer so you can change the color of the Neopixels with a little tug. Stay warm and be bright as the weather turns cooler.
