Remember when Biggs tells Porkins to “Eject, eject!,” before Porkins’ X-wing splinters into oblivion above the Death Star in Star Wars: Episode IV: A New Hope?
This scene would imply that X-wing starfighters have ejection seat technology built into them, but we’ve never seen that in any Star Wars film or TV show. There is a frame in a Star Wars comic book that shows a pilot ejecting from an exploding X-wing in an ejection seat that has an energy field around it to protect the pilot from the vacuum of space.
In this EC Henry video, he comes up with a different (and far more reasonable) explanation for how a pilot might eject from an X-wing.
