Fun video from Phone Repair Guru as he ventures to build an iPhone from parts. In total the parts wound up costing C$502.50 (plus some screws) so there is some savings. Ultimately it’s up to you if it’s worth it, but they recommend against it a few times.
In this video, I assemble an iPhone 13 Pro using parts sourced from AliExpress. I walk through the building process and reveal the total cost to see if it’s actually cheaper than buying a new iPhone. Along the way, I discuss the quality of the parts and how they perform in the final build. If you’re curious about DIY phone assembly or wondering if it’s worth the savings, this video breaks it all down.

It will interesting to keep an eye on how economical projects like this will remain for U.S. makers if the de minimis exemption is lifted.
